ST. CLARE’S HOSPITAL KITCHEN / CAFETRIA ADDITION & RENOVATION

The project undertaken at St. Clare’s hospital included a complete renovation of the kitchen, dishwashing area, serving area and cafeteria seating area.  New kitchen equipment included kettles, ovens, ranges, and baking equipment.  All equipment was changed in the main kitchen and new plumbing and electrical services were run to the space.

All mechanical, electrical and plumbing service connections were closely coordinated with the kitchen consultant's layout drawings.  Utilities included, 140°F hot water, 120°F hot water, cold water, low pressure steam, steam condensate, sanitary and vent piping as well as all electrical connections and fire protection systems.

The kitchen hood incorporates an energy saving two-speed operation automatically controlled by temperature and operation.  The make-up air unit and space air conditioning are all new and incorporate occupied and unoccupied variable air volume control systems to assure both space comfort and energy savings.

The project was constructed in numerous phases and the design included the construction of a temporary loading dock, a temporary kitchen and a temporary cafeteria seating area.  These spaces were constructed in an upper level shell space as part of the addition construction.  This swing space is now undergoing renovations to be converted into a new imaging suite for the hospital.
