SUNY ALBANY FOUNDATION - East Campus C Wing Lab System

SUNY Albany Foundation

The scope is the project includes installation of completely new variable supply and exhaust air systems to serve existing labs on the second and fourth floors of an existing laboratory building. The existing systems are over 40 years old and are constant volume with supplementary heated air. Air conditioning is provided using window air conditioning units. The goal of this project is to renovate the labs to provide a sate of the art make-up air and exhaust system meeting all industry safety and energy conservation standards and codes.

Using a combination of a new interior air handler for the second floor and a new rooftop air handling unit for the fourth floor, all new supply and exhaust ductwork has been designed to thread it's way through existing construction to serve the spaces and existing 46 fume hoods. The hoods will be modified to operate as VAV hoods with appropriate air control valves and fume hood monitors. Flow tracking controls will provide variable air volume operation and all pressurization requirements.

Chilled water is being brought to the air-handling units from a remote central chilled water plant and heating hot water is being made locally from available building steam.

All controls will be fully integrated into an existing DDC control system.
