This project was the outcome of a comprehensive master plan and facilities study. The study investigated multiple options to renovate and upgrade the building's mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems. The master plan recommended various options and calculated budgets for their implementation. Based on an available capital improvements budget, the items were prioritized and then a full engineering design was completed to implement these recommendations.
The project design covered improvements to the main academic building and the field house. The total project covered work in over 200,000 square feet of space. The project was designed for construction over two years and major work was accomplished during the summer seasons to minimize disruption to the academic calendar.
